A sports arena wanted to offer the latest wireless data services to its customers. These were capabilities that the Wireless service providers could not deliver. The customers were already on hand at the arena to watch sporting events, but the event location wanted to offer a deeper, richer experience that would not only provide additional value-add capabilities for those attending live sporting events, but also differentiate the arena from its competitors. This renovation included new interactive content, alternate data feeds, and customer experience improvements (like in seat electronic ordering and payment of food and beverages) delivered over the IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi network.
As part of the renovation process, the customer wanted the multimedia system validated with real-world traffic before customer rollout. This was important because the customer was offering tiered subscription services. If the customer experience was poor, the new service offering would not be purchased and become an expensive failure for the arena.
Read this case study to see how the arena validated their Wi-Fi coverage plan and network performance to find two pre-deployment design defects and save themselves hundreds of man hours to locate those defects. In the end, this validation process helped make the new service a resounding success for the arena.
